Now what is really repulsive is what happens after many Jamaicans get educated at the expense of Jamaican taxpayers dollars...ie..they never gave anything back to the society...instead they ran like a thief, even absconding and never paying back their school loans...mekking it big and never paying back..
In essence thieves who robbed the "poor"... this is painful.
I think there was an article about the dead-beats, and that their names will be published for all to see....[as if that is going to shame them]
Love his analogy re the doctor and the bad tasting medicine for "better mus/tuh come.."

I must admit that Michael's intention was based on an honest commitment to the value of education in the life of Jamaicans. That said, I think he went too far wih his idea of free education up to the tertiary level for those who wanted to go for it... This was where the unravelling of his policies really began, because it was unsustainable for a country with an economy that was heading into the toilet. I can just imagine how "they piled on" when this freeness was announced... We should not be Surprised because we done know already, that when it comes to "freeness, Jamaicans are a very serious lot...
Thoe who benefitted, made it big and ran away without paying back the taxpayers, fall into the category of thieves... But without a proper system to track them down, I doubt that a good many will never pay back their debt. It was too much too quickly without adequate safeguards to protect the Jamaican taxpayers. Computer technology at the time was merely in its infancy...
