Pros & Cons of keeping it.

The only thing I can think of is when de cell phone battery done fi yakking pon conf call all day..and the occasional need fi fax, and an alarm system

but

doan dem have one device whe u can connect u cell phone to and ie can use like u regula housephone ?

what other reasons exist to keep a landline?

If yuh have satellite dish, an yuh phone company won't give yuh just DSL by itself fi yuh internet.

By di way yuh noh need phone line fi FAX. Yuh can use yuh scanner fi dat.

there are some that work with VoIP phones -- I saw it on the vonage site..

ok so I scan the doc and then how do I get to it to ins company , and dem otha places whe fraid fi accept email?

Well, once you have it in electronic format you have many options. For example:

1) Software that send FAXes.

2) Online Fax services.

3) Voice mail, that accepts FAXes.

4) Email-to-FAX services.

5) T.38 VoIP Fax.

Kia, in theory, won't this work with Vonage? Have you tried it out?

yes..a suh me did have my vonnage set up.
well me nuh know the technical details ...but me did have vonnage pon multiple phones in the house.

eta : or is the ability to send faxes with vonnage that Jkid talking about?

really? never know yu cudda set up di Vonage like dat...so mi nuh haffi race downstairs to di one Vonage phone everytime call come in den! Jkid..how far away yu live from mi again?

well the most important reason is that unnu boost mi stock in att, sbc and any odda ma bell weh still deh bout


seriously, there is no reason any body should still have a landline unless unnu is 86 and cant badda wid the computer business or if unnu live in remote areas where IPs are scarce

J-Kid i have been doing that for years.. but I consider Vonage to be VoIP I am thinking of even getting rid of the VoIP and just using the mobile phones.

Hey even mi madda have Vonage.. but mi thinking of moving her to the next step
