That part is important, because a person can have any number of .pst files (I have three here at work), so if there are more than one, it becomes necessary to know which one has the stored files/emails. From the sounds of it you're using one, so you're good with just the &quot;yes&quot;

yup, I backup my entire PC off site on a daily basis, so I think when I change OS I should have all the pertinent info I need which I can restore.

I am still nervous but I think I have covered all my basis now.

This way will give you a folder which you can point Outlook to, then you will have all your emails.

This for Outlook Express, maybe it is different in Outlook Exchange if that is what you are using.

Right click on the link <span style="font-style: italic">(or select open)</span>, paste it in a new window address bar so you can go to it. Save this new folder under any name wherever you want it.
You will need to copy this folder to a new location in your new build and point outlook to it.

Doing it this way will copy all your emails at once and restore them all at once.
I would save two copies <span style="font-style: italic">(with separate name of course) just in case you screw up one in the the reset process (it is easy to do if you answer the quetion(s) wrongly questions)</span>

Follow all the steps if you are in WIN XP and is transferring from Outlook Express, when you finally get to WIN Vista you have to use the file folder imports feature to restore the mail.
As I said before I had no real experience other than up to Win XP now that I am testing Vista I find that only part of the old feature works and it only goo for Outlook Express.

Tuff, CEW, and others, seems to be taking very good care of you. Just one thing to add. You really should not keep your PST file on the OS boot drive (C-drive). If the system goes down you run the risk of loosing your resent and older e-mails. The PST file(s) can be relocated if you want. I keep my PST's on a separate data drive. Therefore, if I have to do an OS re-install or imaging, I don't lose anything.
