As soon as you turn on the computer and you hear the beeps press F8. You will come to the Start UP Menu there you will see choices. Choose Safe Mode.
You have to be quick about it. You can trying cheating by pressing F8 as soon as you press the power button, nothing will happen till the beeps but you would have overcame the lag between the time you hear the beeps and the time when the Computer ended its POST.
