...I do have some concerns about weather outages. We have digital cable and frankly I can't remember it going out but one time (for a few hours) in 7-8 years. [/qb]

RichD, with the use of a multi-switch you can connect many receivers to a single dish.
You are correct about the additional receivers cost. However, don't you have to pay for extra cable receivers if your TV is not capable of receiving all the cable channels that you get?
Besides, it only cost $4.99 for each extra satellite receiver that you add (mirror). Also, don't forget that the satellite receivers has a lot more functionality, and an all digital, sharper picture than a cable receiver.
Some receivers carry basic functionality, but you can get the ones that facilitates a home theatre setup. I opted for this one to go with a projection TV and the 'basic' ones for the others. Great point about the sharper pictures. That much is definitely true. Not all cable channels are digitial.
I needed 4 receivers, but because of the plan I took, the monthly fees for the receivers were waived. A very attractive thing indeed considering I was paying monthly for 2 cable boxes.
aka ChurchDude. I want that moniker back! Until then....

Here we have Satelitte and not cable..
Satelite has about 400 channels, including showtime and Hbo..
The one main problem that we have though is dat if the weather is bad.(rain, storms, ), the satelite reception is goooooone...
and then u have to revert back to regular tv..
but it only stays gone for a very short time like bout 2 minutes or less. We have had it for about 3 years. To me, its worth it..
