Security Systems in Jamaica

why are they utilized so little by people in Jamaica that can afford to have the systems installed and maintained?

The one obvious issue that jumps at me is the unstable electrical supply but that doesnt stop ppl from installing air conditioners

I look at my own family who have high cement fences and nuff guard dogs about the place; grills on every blastid opening of their houses but no security system.

I know the systems are not prefect but they offer some value to your environment.

So outside of the above reason, what are the reasons, you feel Jamaicans dont install security systems like they have here in North America?

Could bi cause lot ah wi dung deh like fi sleep wid di windows open, an since dem hav bard pan it anyway, dem noh si di need fi added security or cost. Wi like di natural breeze, an hear di birds, an crickets, even an occasional croakin lizard.

Yes di noise would alert people at a distance, but would any neighbors dem days yah, really goh investigate wha ah gwaan?

</div></div> Could it be because the times when the electrcity is off may the time when you need security most? since that is the tim when criminals would know that you ahve no security, and possibly very little light, to see and identify them?

alright. My system runs off a cellular system for the same above reason....(It isnt only in JA ppl have power failures. I lose power at least once a month in a new suburb)

You think that would overcome the issue?

My family doesnt experience power failures too tough in Ochi. So is it alot worse in areas like Kingston or other densely populated areas?

I can see this not be viable in lesser populated towns and such, but the major centres?

If yiu want ti market a system in Jamaica I can gove you the real reason. But although systems use cellular, they still need electrucity to power them. cellolar only do the transmission,that is after the system is tripped. It still need poweer to sence intrusionand then it can transmision. . incidentally noot al security systems need a remote center to work, remote center is only a support. You still don't get the point. BOLD [b] it does not matter how occasional ther is a power outage. Burglars chose to rob places duringthat time. So the only time when the lihhgoes they will get up on your pole and cut it while the line is dead.
they carry out the burglary,and you still won't evenknow whe light get back. since.the line is cut.So even afyer the power comes back you are still in the dark. thes criminals are not dumb. Thagtis whatthey do for a loving. they spend as much time studyinh it as you do at your profession.

Why would this not be the same process in JA? dont quite follow your explanation. </div></div> you have a battery back up. thse batteries only last so long,and in In jamaica when th epower goes, it is much longer than in the north. usually for hours. By then aor after a few ofthose the battery wil go caput, unless you bu larhwr back up battweries,and use photo-electric cells to maintain the charge.
That is the expensive part.

Power in this blastid neighborhood can go out for hours - longest was 6 in the winter but that as before I had this new system installed. So I should check how long my battery pack lasts up here as well.

What I do at my hom eand office is to paralelle connect a large autimobile batteries to each of mine, and they can go for days.

okay $750USD is a lot less than what I was expecting. That still is a mangable cost to complete a good security system.

Thatios how business gioes. many buslknes people do not really look around fpr advantages to imprpve sales. some times because the are selling a satisfactory quantities. sometimes because they just are notthat market savvy.use

or one that only the homeowner can hear etc ?


mi nuh know of any call center/precint dung there that have time/resources to do that (read effectively) and even if there were, what would be the response time given some of the roads etc ?

yes, I see your point and yes, that is the type of security system I was asking about. You see signs for them in some parts of Kingston and such. But then I had the extra questions about power supply etc.

I did think about what kind of response time would be involved

I just hate the whole grill system and then needing a whole gaggle of dogs to protect the property. I am not a dog fan, so it just seems like so much work but I understand why they are more effective in JA than they would be up here.
