Mulligan,the Nano has been getting some pretty negative feedback here in the UK from people who have bought it,...apparently the screen is easily cracked,people has been complaining that just leaving it in their pockets can put pressure on the screen.
It was only in the news today here,....in anycase I believe it only holds 1000 songs.

Wow! Thanks... that's good information. I stopped bringing my iPod mini to the gym for that same fear. The 1000 song limit isn't a big deal for me, but the transfer speed is so high that you can update the device in minutes every few weeks or so. I use the iPod as part of my home music system and this SanDisk for the road -- only 1G, but that's more than enough for working out and it's tiny.

I was planning on buying the mini specifically for the gym, especially for running on the treadmill or outside...Did you use yours with the arm band or just clip/hand?????

I just stuffed it in my pocket -- not the smartest. I thought it would be safer than having it out and getting hit by a weight. If you use the armband you would have no problem.

Yes, this makes me think twice. I thought they would have made sure this didn't happen. Even the scratch thing -- must be cheap anodizing/coating. I was worried about this happening to my iPod mini so I bought a case. But after you put it in the case, it's not 'mini' any more.

Yes there has been numerous complaints and return of Nano iPods to store, due ti low quality material being used to make the clear plastic viewing panel. Apparently, they did not do enough durability testing on the product or could not wait to improve the screen before rushing to market. Obviously they will be releasing subsequent nano units with harder improved panels. Their sales took a big hit because of this snafu.

Just an update,...I`m now the proud owner of an apple photo ipod,a whopping 60Gb memory,.it was a bit pricey at £299 but I figured I may as well get one with a big memory instead of updating in a year or so,..and also there are a whole bunch of cool peripherals that can be added,a photo connector enabling photos to be loaded straight from the camera to the pod,..a docking ghetto blaster that you simply slot the ipod in and listen to music via some heavy sounding speakers,...and a bunch of other cool stuff.

I`m not impressed with the software it came with though,ITUNES is supposed to help arrange music from your pc to the ipod,..but I think it`s rubbish,..too basic,and not very good in my opinion,I may upgrade to something more effective.

Thanks for the links,my next objective is to obtain both the in-car link up for my pod,and also the best portable player on the market.
