iPhone or Blackberry

I'm debating which one to get. Which one fits the criteria better?

-must have internet service in most countries in the world
-must be easy to check and write email
-must be durable and not break easy/ catch virus
-service plan economical
-ability to log on to j'cans.com a plus

just got the bold for personal use. but everyone was telling me dat the iphone better for personal use..that is...if you not using it for "corporate email" use

i didnt want a touch screen suh mi nevah get one. in 4 years when this blackberry get old mi might switch to iphone then provided nothing new not on the market.

i just got an iphone yesterday - already ATT customer - since 2000

i don't like the keyboard - very easy to hit the wrong key - hard to type alot - now i understand the cryptic messages i receive from iphone users - with that apologetic message - sent from my iPhone

i would prefer a slideout keyboard - even if i had to type with my thumbs

plus you need to buy an iPhone "skin" and protective sheets for the touchscreen

works internationally - an additional charge per month

i think it's a fad . . .

I have been using the Iphone for almost a year.

Blackberry (Crackberry)
I never used a Crackberry before but watch my wife and other friends do it. I always had the perception that a "crackberry" is the bosses way of having you around 24-hours. I could never get that perception out my because that is what I see with the owners of a "crackberry". They are hooked (like crack) to it for job related stuff. I know that has changed since it became available to the masses but I could never bring myself to getting one...I have come close never got one...

iPhone
What I like
- Browsing the web almost like being on my PC
- The Apps - This is truly the best thing about this phone
- The ease to pick up a free wifi network
- Ease of use
- Having an Ipod on my phone (my music saved a couple parties)
- The cool factor
- It does not feel link work
- The copy n paste feature (saves on using the keyboard)

What I do not like
- The key board - if it was not for spell check it would be worse. I have gotten better but you never get use to it. When you type patois it will try to correct you and you will have to back space before it accepts. For the web the keyboard is better because you can turn the phone horizontally..
- The phone can get hot at times when browsing the web for long.
- The padding you have to over the phone to protect it...if you are not as clumsy as I am then you are fine.
- No easy way to go between Apps (no windows) lol
- Battery life since last upgrade is not the best.

Why I like this phone. Well it is probably a better computer than it is a phone...

I own an iPhone and have only played around with my friends Blackberry. I still like the iPhone better (not just saying that because I own an iPhone).

I had the same problem Seveen had when I first got my iPhone but now I can type away with no problem at all. You just get use to the keypad after a while. The iPhone is durable enough. I have dropped mine dozens of times and it keeps on working. My nephew had a party this summer and one of his friends accidentally left his iPhone in the back yard all night, then it rained. The iPhone worked fine when he found it, even after a good soaking. For web surfing, the iPhone has a larger screen.

The only design flaw I see with the iPhone (IMHO) is the favourites list. If your not careful you can phone someone on the list unintentionally. I just have my contact list and leave the favourites blank and problem solved.

Oh, almost forgot. I can watch a movie on my iPhone. Not sure if that is so doable on a Blackberry?

I have a Blackberry storm as my limted company phone... I cant get movies on it.. but I really dont see that as an issue.. It does not have wifi.. It does what I need.. I check Jamaicans.comb but I cant post on it.. I check all my email accounts.. Its othe r advantage is that its qwerty key board makes me text more.. I cant use the phone key board

Now the company that I constract to want to give me another

My one complaint is that the battery life on the storm is crap... blackberry.....

Well from what I gather the batter life on both is crap.

iPhone seems more fun (iPod feature is important to me)

better typing on the BB but better web browsing on the iPhone.

Leaning towards the iPhone now after your comments.

I have been going through the big IPhone vs Blackberry debate so I went to the ATT store to hold both of them in my hands and see how each works. IPhone wins hands down in my book! I'm just gonna wait a few weeks to see what the Christmas sales offer!

Another thing I don't like about the iPhone is that you can't change the battery yourself like you can in a Blackberry. Apple says the battery should last approx. 3 years at which time you can take it to a dealer and they will give you a temporary iPhone to use (for a price) while they change your battery. Realistically though with new iPhones released every year with new features I think Apples strategy is that you will want to upgrade every three years to get the newest, coolest iPhone. As a result you can probably start looking on sites like ebay for second hand iPhones that are perfectly good phones except they need a new battery. There are videos on You Tube showing how to change the iPhone battery yourself for those that may be a bit handy at fixing electronics.

so I have had the bberry for 2 weeks now and come to the conclusion that for what I do, I would be better off with the iphone.


the browser on the bberry is crap (but I knew that prior to getting it)

just not impressed with the bberry so far and I would not have found that out if I hadn't had the chance to test it out.

IMO it is better for people who intend to send receive tons of emails, that is, more suited for corporate use, while the iphone is more consumer based.

I checked out a PDF document on the iphone and it looked way better than it would on the bberry.




that being said, I am 95% sure that I am gonna return the bberry for an iphone \0/
