Them very helpful at Vonage

No problem at all with them and mi can call mi cousins in Canada, Europe and chat to mi heart content without the extra charge.

What happens is that Vonage gives you a temporary number so you can start making outbound calls as soon as you have the device connected. The inbound calls will continue from your landline provider. When the port (the switching of the number between the carriers) is physically complete, you will be able to receive calls on the vonage adapter. Vonage sends you email notification of the steps in the process or you can check on their site.

Only applies to copper and not fios lines. Fios lines are connected to an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and they have a battery life of 8 hrs.

Cell phones will only go out of service during blackouts if the device is not charged or the cell tower providing service goes out. Cell phone Towers are required to have battery backup so the incidence would be rare (think 9/11). Cell phones devices can easily go for a day without being charged therefore provide longer power than the ONT.

now to your question:

What kind of wireless router you have - Make and model number

What does your vonage Mta (aka box) look like. .If you can go to the vonage site and link it , it will help.

Normally you plug the ethernet cable into one of the ports of the wireless router and then connect it to the vonage MTA.

Then u take your phone cable and connect it from line 1 of the vonage MTA to your phone set. If you have the portable phones that connect together, then it would be to the base set.

Then you should have dial tone.
