am in the market for a new laptop

but am completely overwhelmed tryna figure out which one i should get.... i know there was a thread not too long ago with ppl tellin about some a the new machines they got and why they like em and all that, but not seeing that thread anywhere-

and p.s. no bodda tell mi seh get a Mac... a much as i <span style="font-style: italic">adore</span> Mr Bean and <span style="font-style: italic">truly</span>adore the Mac, spending 2-grand (are they flickin <span style="font-style: italic">mad??)</span> is OUT de question so no Mac this year.

400 on basic loptop (on the real cheap side)
150 fi add on di security (Macafee, Norton, etc.) &lt;---which you haffi renew each year.
150 thats for microsoft bundle
150-350 for next add-ons that mi write out here...

---&gt; 900-1200 for laptop (on the very cheap side). o, ahn dont figget it will last bout 2 years before it stawt bruk dung pon you.

i got my mac for 1100. pulled it out of the box and began to use it. no add ons, etc. i'll need to throw mine out of a window to brake it, if i want a new one. NO ISSUES AT ALL. I run mostly adobe programs, too.

in the meantime mi like milo, idea....

I have a Mac Book which is at least 5 years old now.

I work it constantly for approx. 40-45 hrs a week, mostly running adobe programs. Never once had an issue with it thus far.

I purchased a new Windows laptop last summer for a little cheaper than a Mac Book Pro, and while I have had very few issues with it to date, I still find the Apple operating system to be much more stable.

Bottom line IMHO... <span style="font-weight: bold">you get what you pay for</span>.

how much you willing to spend and would you consider a 17&quot; dell laptop? Will you be using it for the same purposes as the inspiron?

and RIP Inspiron 300M you were good to the last circuit

HA! Nuttin no go so. Don't need none a them add-ons. I <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">hate</span></span> norton - 2 snaps down - it slows everything down, i stopped gettin it yrs ago.

I use free antivirus - Avira Antivir, MalWareBytes Anti-Malware, Ad-Aware, &amp; Malicious SW Removal Tool, along with Windows Defender and a firewall, they work great. and bonus! - all are constantly updated in real time, cannot bother wit alla dat renewing once a year nonsense. keep it simple, less details for my brain to clog up with - a huge plus for me -

and OpenOffice.org - also freeware - fully compatible with Word &amp; Excel. don't need Powerpoint, and Adobe comes pre-installed on new machines so good to go there.... don't need no Microsoft 'bundle'.

The machine itself i all i need.

and chuss me, nubaddy need convince me bout Mac. i started with them and worked wit them for years &amp; LOVE them. Of <span style="font-style: italic">course</span> it's absolutely worth it, and an excellent value for cost. that's not the point - the reality is that i'm unemployed, &amp; 'cash on hand' is what i have to work with. do not wanna just get the smallest cheapest mac, I need at least a 15&quot; screen; when i DO get a Mac, it has to be a good-size one. so a PC will haf to do for now. i'm an IT geek, i can handle it...

just ask Kia, i brought her Inspiron back from the ded and it did fine for a good couple years.

i can get a decent PC machine for about $600 that will work fine for home use for a good while. Am not a gamer so just need it for normal computing tasks, internet, I-tunes, job hunting...standard home use. Not lookin to buy one a de 'cheapest'-cheapo ones, but i also can't go for the 'dream machine' this year, gotta go for the middle ground at the moment.

Keyer i do def want that 17&quot; screen, but thinkin to stay weh from Dell this time around. I could be wrang but i've heard way too many horror stories wit the new Dells. i dunno, maybe that was due to Vista though (?) and W7 may fix all that mess (?)

ASUS is one i been lookin at.
some a them new Gateways lookin nice also, though i usally i don't rate Gateway too tuff, i'm hearin that the new Turion processors are excellent. i dunno, i dunno....

plus di adobe mi chattin isnt just di reader. mi talking all of the adobe suite products (ie. indesign, illustrator, photoshop, etc.)...

you right, doh, you nu need MAC fi surf web ahn dem tings deh...regula pc will do.

thinking on this a little more if is web surfing, opening and editing ms office documents &amp; ting deh u a do, why not get an Ipad with wifi (and 3G enabled to add or not to add) $629 and the cost of an app to edit u msoffice documents, lightweight portable, sleek

mi been a convert from time madame. is a mac lab i work from at work.
is just few months mi actually have a mac for home use and booooooyyyyy

i guess if you can stand to see the circle swirling for about 2 seconds 4MG is quite enough

hehe, cause technical geek knoweldge is a totally different thing from user reviews of brands &amp; individual models! i don't know a 'lot' about the new machines that are out there and how well they actually operate whenn folks get em home. so not really lookin advisement, more like opinions from folks on the new machines they got, and how its workin for them once they get it home and use it.

i no need the entire Adobe suite w/writer, for home use just need to be able to view PDF docs.

BOAL! by then i might well be able to get that Mac so i'm not too worried, meantime PC should hold me over for a while.... gotta get one JOB first!
