Two people out of forty in each case. I'd hardly call that a resounding vote of confidence!

Also from the linked article:

Quote:

Is it possible that a problem like this would make it into the wild? You’d think that it would have been discovered in testing. On the other hand, maybe this is what caused Steve Jobs’ connection woes at the WWDC keynote where he demoed the new handset?

Notice near the end of the video where the connectivity problem returned even after Steve Jobs claimed they had found the reason.

Re: iPhone 4 - Maior Design Flaw
“Just avoid holding it in that way,” advised the most knowledgeable Apple expert on Earth.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs was responding to an email from an early adopter of the iPhone 4, who was upset that his new phone lost reception if held in a certain way. Multiple reports confirm the signal strength issue is real and seems to be quite common.
The issue appears to be caused by the iPhone 4′s redesigned antenna. In older iPhones the antenna is in the back of the phone, towards the bottom, but the iPhone 4 has replaced that with an antenna that wraps around the phone as part of the stainless steel band with two symmetrical slots on each side.
It certainly looks cool, but according to Spencer Webb of antenna-design firm AntennaSys, if the user covers those slots then antenna performance will decrease dramatically. “There is no way around this, it’s a design compromise that is forced by the requirements of the FCC, AT&T, Apple’s marketing department and Apple’s industrial designers, to name a few,” blogged Mr. Webb on Thursday.
Apple sells a US$29 rubber “bumber” case that wraps around the edges, only covering the stainless steel band containing the antenna, which should technically solve the problem. But the existence of such a niche case caused Barb Dybwad of the social media blog Mashable to ask a very important question: Did Apple know about this issue in advance and choose to ignore it?
Mr. Jobs’ curt response to what could in fact be a very serious design flaw with the new device doesn’t answer that question. Though it does evoke memories or a classic ‘man-walks-into-doctors-office’ joke, presented below for reference purposes:
Patient: Doctor, I think there is something wrong with my arm.
Doctor: What is the problem?
Patient: It hurts when I move it like this *moves arm in specific manner*
Doctor: Well then don’t move it like that.
Patient: *leaves room*

His (presumably unintentional) reference could be considered funny.
Except that in the joke, the patient didn’t have to wait in line for hours and pay $199 before getting disappointed.

Re: iPhone 4 - Maior Design Flaw
I love my iPhone but it seems pretty clear that this new model is seriously flawed.
Apple must come better than dis man! They need to recall the phones and clear the shelves of them until the problem is resolved.
Imagine the ceo of the company telling the public that it is essentially their fault that the phone nah work right because they are holding it the wrong way. (scratch head).

Re: iPhone 4 - Maior Design Flaw
it's nice. the front and back must be glass so you need a hardy case and you need to not drop it
picture/video is sharp. if you take a picture anywhere the gps location pops up on the map
