Yes you should look on the jumper after you remove the drive.
It will have the letters and you will see the jumber on one of thes sets of letters.
it does not matter what the drive states. it will either state that you sould set it as Master if you puter is master and slave sequencing. since the driver you tookout was a DVD writer it will either be Master if the system is master/slave,but that is unlikely. The most likely sequence is Cable select.if it is cable select the jumper will be across CS. It if is Master the jumper will be across MA. If it is slave which is very unlikely the jumper will be across SL. It is simple There will be a label on th etom that will point this out. the importnt is to set the new one similar to th eold. ..and very important,before you put it in, make note of the model,and serial munbers. you may need it after for driver or other enquires.
