I did google the model number and antenna - I found a site that confirms that the router antenna is not removable. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

So, it looks like I have to return the D-link unit.

Thanks for giving me another option.

I'm gonna check if the Hawkins unit can be bought in a Canadian store before I order it online.

I can get the Hawking extender thru Dell Canada. However, I have one last question before I purchase it: Given the type of router that I currently have, do you think it is sufficient enough for me to just buy the extender, or would you suggest upgrading my router all together?

If it was my money, I would get the extender first. Out of curiosity how much VAT added on the cost? You sure it isn't available cheaper from other stores?

It's only a few dollars extra for shipping when I order thru Dell Canada, so the cost is minimal.

The problem is that as fas I can see, only Dell carries that brand in Canada. None of the other major computer retailers seem to sell that brand. Otherwise, I would have to order thru the States....


Oh thru Dell it is only 85.99 CDN whereas CompUsa is 89.99USD. So both are in the same ball park.

if the foil creates directional strength, I wonder how good it would be if I need the signal to go straight up, three levels? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

never hurts to try though!
