all i know is that i installed what was suggested earlier in the thread;

1GB Module 1024MB-DDR333, 333MHz, PC2700, 200p SODIMM, 2.5v

before ordering, i checked Dell web site to confirm that it was the right part for my laptop.

If the machuine recognize it,that mean it is the appropriate one. Ypu may have to reload your Os or somthing

Or before you do that check anmd make sure that the largest stick of memory is in th efirst it '0' socket,or try to switch the sticks and if that don't work load the OS.

yes, i replaced the one slot in the back. that is the only slot i have.

I think there is anither one,in there that is why you now have 1.2Gig after adding 1 gig..
try to switch the hew one with the exicting one,and see what happens.

all the memory is internal. They are supposed to be remivable too. the problem seem to be that the one that is in there is slowing up the new one. th ebigger memory stick have to be in the forst or '0' slot.

Why do you think that there is any part of the laptop that cannot be changed? Do you think it is soldered in??

</div></div> I kind a heard about that sometime ago,but never seen a soldered Ram . So if it is soldered in the '0' slot,you wom'nt be an;e to get the uptimum increased speed,but I am justyy speculating.
