Even of yoyr laptop is connected to the router, unless you select that LAN in the software. It will not communiv=cate with it.
In my home I recieve about 3 different LAN signals, but can only communicate with the one I select.

Takes more than that to get things up and running. For starters, did you configure the router? If not, the router's manual should tell you how to do it. You will need the username and password provided by your ISP.
Also, check out the article linked below for some additional things you have to do.

Re: Wireless Connection
The thing is that she already hafe a homw network.
What she heed to do is to confiugure the laptop's communication software to connect with it.
I think she need to configure the laptop networn neighborhood to the router's mac number.
she would probably need to load the router software, and then simply follow the prompt. sometme is as simple as holding diwn a button on th erouter, when prompted to do so,and walla you are connected.
but the software, or at least the mac and subnet numbers. have to be loaded first on the laptop

Compry, just call the tech help line that came with the router, if it's Linksys....they're very helpful. They'll walk you thru the config and you'll be up and running.

Re: Wireless Connection
Thanks Loops...excellent advise.
DrDudd, my laptop is configured to pick up wireless services wherever I am. I just can't get it to work at home.
I'm going to do as Loops suggested right now.

It can onlypick up wireless services that are unprotected,or itherwise authorized to pick up.
If your laptop with it;s current conf9guration could pick uop ypoyr priovate LAN, just think about who else would be ab;e to. You have to give it the security password to yoyr system.
Do that and you will have permanent access ( or until somthing breaks). s

Re: Wireless Connection
Hope tech service can help.
If we start to dig into it at this point, it seems that we are going to confuse more, based on the level of you knowledge that I am sensing.
Short of one of us or someone knowledgable actually, doing it for you, the next best thing is Linksys Tech Help. However, like Dr. D. said, the disk that came with your router is the best aid, if Tech Help does not pan out. If Tech help can't get you up and running (that will happens sometimes) and it comes to that point, then we will did more into it for you.

Sounds like the problem is with the router. It should assign IP addresses using DHCP, but hard to tell from here if it is configured to do that, or even if its logged in to the ISP from inside the router.aka ChurchDude. I want that moniker back! Until then....

Aye sah.
I called TRENDnet. They're going to call me back.
Edited to add: Yesterday, the technician from Rogers was able to "see" the router. He just couldn't figure out why I was not able to get a browser page.

Can you browse your work homepage from you existing home network using your home computer?
