Are you talking the power light or the hard drive light?

The power light should be on constant after the switch is pressed.

If it is the power light, then that is not good, you may have a bad power internal supply. I want you to pull out the battery and see if you can power it up then.

If you are having hard drive issues, then you could get the symptoms you described above with the HD light.

Memory chips needing to be reseated can cause this issue also. Sometimes you might get an error, sometimes you wont.

Another thing to check is the fan. If the fan stopped working, worse case scenario is damage to the cpu and time for a new pc. A few pcs I've worked on have had this problem. The CPUs get hot enough to burn skin within seconds after turning them on. (Don't ask how I know this. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img] )

I know you seh laptop. I have one right now being used as a print server and it halfway pulled apart. The lcd screen connector have a problem and occasionally I have to reseat it. The cpu has been pulled multiple times to spread heatsink grease on it because it get hot enough to dry it out. I know the grease need replacing when the fan cycle too often. It loud when it on high speed. You could also google on the laptop model and 'forum' and see if you find another forum like this that talk about the laptop.

Oh, and if you did ask me a week ago, I was in NYC a eat good pizza and a freeze. And den mi mek mistake fi go wid me female cousins in a Macys. Dem spen the whole day in deh! Wha about when you plug in the cord and it says the computer is plugged in but not charging. Why is that? Sometimes the cord is in but it says its not, too.
