From what I've seen and heard in the last 2 years...mobay is worse than kingston. I hate kingston but mi wi tek dat anyday over montego bay

In downtown Sav. it gets kinds rough at night. What's considered the uptown part is ok. A lot of petty crimes. Nuff robberies and thief's. I hear gang violence is playing a part. Too many guns being brouhgt into the country. Very sad.

Such a beautiful place, such beautiful people, and so much violence.

I hope your leaders and politicians are better than mine, and do more than simply pay lip service to making things better. That's probably naive of me, but one can hope.

i felt perfectly safe during my trips in january, march and july in the tourist areas

i think - IMHO - that the worst time in the tourist areas was in the 1980's right before A/I's were created

there were folks all up and down the Hip Strip trying to sell you their wares - not necessarily licensed - and you couldn't walk 2 steps without being asked to buy something - including drugs - at the time crack cocaine

although some may say this sounds like the scene in negril - the vendors in negril - are at work - in their "offices" everyday

and the same "gigs" have been roaming the beach for years - after many visits - i even manage to get a quick "hello" as they hurry away to more profitable concerns

i think you're as safe as anywhere - use common sense!
