I have chose recipients thankyou anyway.I know what i want and who to give it to but how does the person on here get them collected and delivered?
I have not seen any shops selling the kind of toys i want i do not know where they are located as never had a need to go toy shopping in jamaica before.are there any large stores which have a website with toys on?

tictoc as you have been to jamaica lots of times you will notice that many things that can be had abroad are also available in the island. given that you are in the uk with a very good extra rate with the jamaican dollar (the reasons we will not go into here) why dont you set aside the cash that you plan to use to purchase the items for the barrels, etc.. and just buy the items down there? </div></div>

It is better to spend money locally.. convert money locally as thsi will contribute more to the general economy .. I have a long held opnion that too much of this activity is driven by ego... alturism is all well and good but the concept of development is better... Having been a victim of unwanted charity when I was a wee nipper.. (Now why the hell did they ship basket balls to Jamaica in the 70's.. Cricket bats would have been more approriate!)

The question should never be what we give, rather how we develop. Buying things in Jamaica will have an effect, buying locally produced products will have a multiplier effect. shippin plastic to Jamaica is merely raises a disposal problem for the future...

you can tell people what you like-whether its relevant is a total other matter,
the gifts are for the children and i want them to have them without even thinking of how jamaica will dispose of it in 5 yrs time.if i have to take them apart piece by piece or fly them back again to put them in our plastic recycle bins then so be it.
I do not understand why you think giving a gift at christmas is so wrong.But this thread was simply asking how can I get them there not about what you think i should give and when and to whom and how to recycle it afterwards.Thankyou very much

but but but... it is soooo more environmentally friendly to buy local. You are much better off buying it there unless you can carry it in your suitcase..

you are kinda missing the point

everyone here is for gift giving, however, if you purchase the toys there, thus avoiding the HUGE shipping fees, isn't it the same ? if you have the money for the shipping fees, then case closed. do so.

So I am still no further on really,
I asked how to get them there and I have been told
1)do not send them
2)they will have trouble recycling them
3)no-one cares about just 1 barrel
4)give them money
5)give them something else
6)give it to some other kids in an orphanage near my home
7)give it to somebody on this board for other kids.

point being this:
I know exactly who these gifts are for,I just need to get it there,I would purchase them while there if they were available,I have asked for names of toy shops and I do not think they have what I want.
