Adventure Tours

I've googled a couple of <span style="font-weight: bold">adventure/ecotourism</span> tours in Jamaica cause I want to explore the island outside of flippin 'Ochi for a change

has anyone use like Chukka tours and other tour groups? If so, what did you do and did you enjoy it?

if any one has some off the beaten paths adventures that they did and liked, also let me know.

i would recommend the bike trip/ride in the blue mountains. blue mountain downhill is easy and very pretty/fun.

just tours? or do you want to stay a few nights somewhere off the beaten trail? - are you staying in the ochi area or willing to check out spots around the island?

Portland as you know is the eco center of jamaica
if you are willing to leave <span style="text-decoration: line-through">mashup, populated, been there done that, people all bout</span> Ochi you will have nuff fi do.

Are you talking -an AC bus, full of gray roots that make stops where everyone can take a picture in the designated spot in the time alloted, and then lunch at a place with long benches where all the bus people sit in neat rows and are served a set menu- kinda tours.

Are you talking -a beat up land rover taking you inna de bush, from which a knowledgable guide will take you places you'd never dare venture yourself, and the only thing that keeps you going is the guide's motivation and the fact that he's not waiting, and there's no chance you'll find the way back on your own- kinda tours.

Seveen the goal is to break from of Ochi where my family is and do some exploring of other parts of the isalnd. I dont have any particular areas in mind just gonna plan from what ever sounds good.

So I'd consider spending time off the beaten trail as well. I just said tours cause I couldnt think of a better word at the time

Like saxaholic mentioned, I'd be into some hiking and biking as well. I am not a hard core camper but I will tolerate it to a degree....just cant take the finding a toilet in the middle of the night business

I know I have read trip reports where ppl have done these kinds of things. I just dont remember at all who wrote what and wehn.

Hence the seeking of advice.

Great hiking trails await you on the east side of Jamaica. Here are some suggestions.

* From Riverside Cool Cottages, you can enjoy a 3 day trip to the Blue Mountains through Cedar Valley and Hagley Gap.

* Hike to the Rasta family on the hill. They cook nice food.

* On the way you can visit an abandoned slave quarters (shorter but harder walk)

* Reggae Falls is about about a 1 mile hike off the road, after a taxi ride from Mokko's. Hike is of moderate difficulty. What a view!

* Hiking trails abound around Sunning Hill and hike the rivers that run by Mokko's house.

* Mount Felix is a town very close to Sunning Hill. It is a good hiking destination. You can visit the people of the town.

* The Cunha Cunha Pass Hiking Trail is a maintained trail that extends from Hayfield (near Mokko's) to Millbank. From the trail you can get to Port Antonio. Mokko says you can hike to Port Antonio in a day!

* Bath mineral springs, the town and botanical gardens. (about 5 miles)

i think neutral did the horseback riding

i know several folks that did the zip line

don't swim with the dolphins - expensive - and poor captured dolphins

loops went to some gardens over there - i can't remember the name

yeah I have looked a chukka tours and wanted confirmation to see what others thought of them.

I dont believe the swimming with animals business so that wont be on the agenda
