Re: Update on me (Grayskull)
I didn't know that about the meds and the gov't, from what I understood you have to see a GP to get referred to a psychologist (covered by ohip) otherwise you can see one but you have to pay them. I don't have ANY experience with this but it's what I heard. The prescription he wrote was for Paxil. The stuff he explained and everything that I knew already was regarding the hippocampus and the limbus cortex, how generally positively stimulating the limbus cortex creates good feelings and transfers that to the hippocampus, but if you have depression then the hippocampus blocks more of those chemicals and the good feelings don't sink in and etc. he went on to explain how when that happens it gets harder to stimulate the limbus cortex and so forth, so the drugs are supposed to open up pathways back to the hippocampus etc.
thing is he basically said you have to ALWAYS take the drugs. you may lower the dose but coming off them you can sink back into depression, I don't like the sound of always having to be on medication for this.
anyway, what I was hoping for was a referral to a therapist, or better still a referral to this hypnotherapy centre, now what they do is unlock the blocks that you put on yourself due to circumstances etc, I met with them and learned about their methods and such and it looked REALLY good but they charge $1600 for the service, so that's out of the question, I THINK if you get referred then it's covered, but that may be 3rd party insurance rather than ohip.
Now as an artist I CAN write that $1600 off on my taxes (not sure if I can write all of it off) because it can be something I need to do to showcase, pitch, do my work. but again I'd still need the $1600 to pay for it and I'd need to make enough $$ this year as an artist to get that money back as a write off.
When I go back I'll tell him I'd like a referral, but truthfully I'm hoping that things start looking up in the career dept before then. I don't know if that will be what makes me feel better but I know that without that worry I'll feel a lot less bad. and It will give me the tools I need to fix other aspects of my life.
thanks everyone, I'll keep you posted.
