Because I go so often people say "Why don't you MOVE there."

Jamaicans say....you come so often, you should get a little piece of land and......

There was a time in my Jamaican infancy when I dreamed of such...it is nothing that JAMAICA "did" to me that made me change my mind, but rather life in general...let me explain.

YOu may notice a recurring theme throughout my reports...something bad happens to me here, heartbreak, betrayl, death in the family, and I run to Jamaica for comfort/healing. But I go as a TOURIST.

I live like a tourist (pampered), I eat like a tourist, I drink like a tourist, I shop like a tourist. My friends who insist on a place with a "kitchen" tickle me, the last thing I want to do in Jamaica is cook.

Jamaica is my fantasy place where I run for relief and fun from the "real world."

If I moved there I realized, I carry the same problems I have here times 10

#1 Single woman that people who do anything from cut the grass to car repairs to the airconditioning system, lie to,overcharge, don't show up, mess up worse , and then walk away leaving me with the problem.

#2 Delivery of services. Like take Jamaica Miss...the people on the left have internet , the people on the right have internet, you are in between these two people and the company says YOU can't get internet. It is crazy mess like this, things which drove Ochii Gal to distraction about Jamaica until she was yelling so every day that a Jamaican friend took her by the shoulders and said "Wendy, time to go home."

#3- Acquisition of land and building of home....no thank you, by the time I got through doing both at 5 times what is should really cost I'd be ready to hurt someone.

#4-The hands constantly out, my heart way too big and open, 401K gone in one year. No thanks

#5- The men....nuh sincere...nuff said

#6- Safety

#7- Health Care

#8- My civil rights activist azzz would not be able to keep silent on issues which would probably be none of my business.

#9- No matter how I move, or carry myself, or try to acclimate I will forever be an "outsider". Why would I LIVE somewhere that will make me feel uncomfortable in my own skin....not that I am WHite, but someone I know who has been there for a long time said that no matter what she did, she is still the "white lady who married _______" subsitute BLACK AMERICAN ( and man they can say it like it is something nasty, they spit it out BLACKAMERICAN), and there you have it.

#10- I'll just keep going and coming> I won't fall out of love because my lover will not have time to take off my rose colored glasses. I like it my way....just MHO.

Had to add...this is just for discussion sake...I know no Jamaican give a S whether we want to or will move there anyway, and there is one prolific poster on here who doesn't particularly even seem to want us to visit.

I'm still saying no one told you to fall in love with the place, and they can give less than a damn that you have fallen out of love with it.

This to me is hypocrisy to the fullest in my opinion. I have traveled to several places in my life time and have never felt the need to claim it as my home period. I am not Jamaican, Bajan, Mexican, Hawaiian etc. I am comfortable knowing exactly who I am and where my real home is so no need to claim a place as being "mine" when I'm not originally from there. That's one reason why I choose not to speak patios.

This to me is hypocrisy to the fullest in my opinion. I have traveled to several places in my life time and have never felt the need to claim it as my home period. I am not Jamaican, Bajan, Mexican, Hawaiian etc. I am comfortable knowing exactly who I am and where my real home is so no need to claim a place as being "mine" when I'm not originally from there. That's one reason why I choose not to speak patios. </div></div>

I will live in Jamaica in the near future. I love every bit of it; the good, the bad and the ugly. My big beautiful white american [censored] walks in total comfort with myself and my surroundings be it "ghetto," bush or tourist area. I have studied the culture, food and music for over 30 years and am constantly preparing and updating myself for the experience. Hearing the latest lines of a gigalo or a conman makes me smile, sometimes initiates an interesting conversation. Always challenging, I suppose I may get weary of it at times.

I may never "fit in," but I have never fit in here in the US either, so it's no big deal. I know there are bad mind people everywhere and dem nevah concern me in the least. Been through enough of that in the US too. I walk in the Light wherever I go and it seems that people sense that in me. If something random should occur I most definitely have the strength to deal with it. No weapon shall prosper. This is my path so I will follow it.

Many sheeple (love that term!) think I'm crazy, LOL! 'teva....

you know I know you... and I wish you Queen B, Kim, Orbra, Ja Jewel, Jen, T Small, Sienna, Scot Girl, Schultz, Scotty (not Kim's Scotty, another Scotty), Half House, and some others I may have forgotten... all of the VERY VERY best as you venture to live there long term, off and on or whatever...I choose to keep it at arm's length as I know I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH.
