Big ice storm coming this weekend. I don't have skates anymore. I wonder what this rain will do to the Beargrease trail. Beargrease is next Sunday!

Re Curacao. It is a lovely island, not necessarily the scenery which is mostly desert, but the people are awesome and those that wait on you are friendly, not like some here in Jamaica. Sometimes they have trouble understanding us and talking English. They speak either Dutch, Papiamenta (like Patwa but their version) Spanish or English. It is a very clean island and NO potholes on the roads. They are very polite when driving too. None of this foolhardy overtaking that kills so many peeps here. Our hotel was on a large courtyard and overlooked the large canal going through the capital Willemstad. Many ships come in and the pontoon bridge opens up for the cruise ships and ships carrying petroleum from Venezuela. Curacao refines the oil for them. They are around 35 miles apart. Willemstad has 2 areas: Punda and Otrabanda divided by the canal. 2 years ago we only went to Punda, but found out later that Otrabanda has better buys.
We also connected with a Jamaican woman and her Haitian friend who sell crafts there. The Haitan woman has an apt that we can rent next time for a very good price;then we can cook for ourselves and save more money. She could hardly talk to us because she was so distraught about her homeland and family.Comment

(((Jamaica Miss))) your holiday sounds lovely - it is nice to get to know a place and then find places other than the touristland to visit and stay - that is one of the things i love most about my visits to jamaica

Marnin Seveen and Laurel. No work for me today I'm in the middle of a big storm, day 3. I watched portions of the extreme makeover while watching the viqueens lose and didn't get to see the endings because my satellite went out from 8 till around 5am.
I'm in the middle of a honkin piece of color necklace so I'm elated at the chance to stay home and work on it!Comment
