Marilyn, always enjoy your reports.

I cannot believe someone call jamaica to make trouble for you what a ugly,lonely, envious, jealous no life loser....damn!! it's a reason why I do not do trip reports or post any pictures on here. Well except one which I had as my avatar for a short time. Some peeps really sad guees you have to feel sorry for them....what a horrible life they must lead really feel sorry for them.

I can't believe it either, but that was kinda minor compared to some stuff...however, I have to say that many have reminded me that the stuff that has befallen me is partially &quot;my fault&quot;, for putting the information (aka ammunition) in their hands. Which brings about the question of how can you truly enjoy yourself on the internet, make what you put out there interesting to anyone who might want to read it, without getting yourself in &quot;trouble.&quot;

In the cyber world you have your good hearted people with intelligence who appreciate what you do (there is a recent trip report, no 2 or 3, in which the people shared, and I feel privileged to have even read them and be a small part of their world or inner circle for even a little while).Then you have your nut cases, who for what ever their reasons are, sit behind these screens and reek havoc on others.

Another note from the trip.

The &quot;tourist police&quot; saw fit the last trip to hassle someone who makes little bracelets. My GF who was with me had him sitting at For Real's bar making one for her son. I was photographing the event for posterity when this officer came by and started hassling him about having a license to do this.

This trip it was the fruit lady THE NICEST PERSON ON THE 7 MILE BEACH.

Ok acknowledging here that I don't make the laws in Jamaica, can't change them, and can't control them, but I did ask about this so called &quot;license&quot;.

It was explained to me that if one goes to the police station, or Kingston even, to get this magical LICENSE, that you would be denied because you must have a shop that is closeable and can lock at night.

Even if you had say a little stand of some sorts, if it is not a proper building, you do not qualify either.

So in another conversation with the &quot;tourist police&quot;, this was posed. The tourist policeman says that all the person would have to do (in the case of the fruit lady, but I don't think this would carry over to say the CD selling guy), is to apply for a food handler's license.

Now I'm just interjecting my opinion here, but I am guessing the reason that a beach traveling vendor would not like to get all caught up in the formal licensing process would be that then the GOVERNMENT would have you on record, and begin &quot;taxing&quot; your alleged earnings. If one could not document to their satisfaction what those earnings are, then they would guesstimate (and that is something you don't want any government entity to do with your life, in Jamaica or anywhere in the world), and tax you accordingly. So I really don't blame them for taking the occasional hassle as opposed to the alternative.

Sadly, this now makes the vendors that we like pack their things up and just leave For Real's bar when the 5/0 come by (which is way too often for me).

Of course...the two drug dealers that I know for sure pace up and down the beach unmolested from 6:00 AM- until dark. (I guess they pay some hush money for that privilege though)
