The bar and restaurant, drinks were limited but the bartenders here mix them strong. The food was "average" but on those mornings when I was too lazy to go out for breakfast I ate here instead. Prices for everything was "average" as well.

Coffee was instant so I did have to force myself to walk down to Burger King some mornings to get coffee to bring back to my room. Only a two minute walk.

The bathroom is behind the wall. It was recently renovated.

Loved the hardwood floors in my room. The only downfall was the lack of hot water for showering but in Jamaica do you really need hot water?

so all the rooms have cold water? did you ask about it? sometimes i've found that they just need to flick the switch . . .

I never did ask about the hot water as I usually like my showers a little on the cooler side anyway so when I am in JA I usually don't require a lot of hot water. But you may very well be right. Perhaps a flip of a switch would have fixed that issue.

The room worked out to $23.00 U.S. per night booked through hostels.com. If anyone else is thinking of booking I would phone the hotel directly and make sure you are going to get the type of room you think you are going to get before you book with a third party, just so there are no surprises when you arrive.

Edited to add that the price included all taxes.

so do you think the hotel would have given you $23 per night rate if you had booked directly?

or just confirm your booking with the hotel before going?

i guess since you don't pay the balance until you get there - if they want the money they'll find you the room

Never heard of a place that cheap in Jamaica, usually 50 dolls minimum (ridiculous!).

marielle - here is the link for the hotels that advertise as &quot;hostels&quot; - he stayed at Caribbean Sunset - the best part is there is only a small deposit and you pay the rest to the hotel when you get there - so they are motivated to give you a good room or you can walk
