I am in Kingston now sitting on my mother's varandah. Nice likkle breeze blowing. Skies are overcast. Mango tree has fruit and blossoms on it and Mommy warn mi dat dem wormy
Mommy's clock is striking 8:30 AM inside as I type this. One a dem facety lizzad is determined to enter her bathroom window but a screen is blocking im likkle rawce 
Mi know is not dis kine a trip report yuh lookin, but yuh haffi satisfy

I went in July for a week. Not a day went by where I didn't feel like somebody was going to get a
from me. And let's forget about pictures, because as soon as I fixed my gaze on something to enjoy it's beauty, somebody would sidle up to me and start asking some ridiculous question.
The rest of the time was spent on the sand halfway in the water.

I just came back also.. Met up with Sandy down there.. But she gave me 3 extra days by heading to the east coast so I'm not mad at her..
Got to see CoCo Tea and Culture (who has a new name) in concert at Burbon Beach in Negril, was a highlight too and especially when Coco was joined on the stage with Beanie's exwife (I can never remember her name) with the talk of them havin somthin... Got some pics.. they would not let me video.. pics not so good but you can recognize the people..
Never done a trip report before.. I will get a lesson in posting pics and get something up over the weekend... All in all a delightful stress-free two week and an extra 3 days in Jamaica...Comment

Kingston is nice to visit at this time of year. The breeze feels sweet and everyone is in the holiday spirit ... and it is not too crazy yet.
What is almost emotional for me ... though not as emotional as MGee can get sometimes
... is to see all the Jamaican colors everywhere! The national pride and spirit is on a natural high with black, green, and gold EVERYWHERE! Inside the banks and government buildings are swaths of our colors. Outside on buildings in New Kingston and all over the stores are banners, flags, our colors everywhere. Of course this was all for the 50th. Oh my goodness, I was caught up in all this outpouring of my people's sense of self 
On every taxi, on people clothes, on every bag an pan you just see our black, green and gold.
Yesterday inside a big bank building was a Christmas tree ... decorated with our colors. Yes, I had an MGee moment

Love the national colours everywhere though I do confess not feeling "emotional" about the displays of national pride. NMIA was beautifully done and kudos to the persons who did such a wonderful job.
On the matter of trip reports, I have to admit this new board is not particularly trip report friendly. I love the pictures in the reports and clicking on links to get to pictures seems like a lot of work

day 2.
we woke up and went down to the lobby to grab the complimentary(sp) continental breakfast. toast, cereal, assorted pastry, assorted fruits, cold cereal, juice and coffee. the coffee was
good. pastry not suh much.
[this is where we met joshwoah, a little british boy around 6-7 with his mother. yuh can tell seh a one likkle bad bruk pikney. he kept hitching up himself at our table, because we were feeding the resident cat, and he wanted in on the action as well. his mother kept screaming at him to come back to his table to no avail. even mild mannered laid back likklegen was rolling her eyes at this point.
Mother: joshwoahhh, JOSHWOAAAHHH. I seh to come hay-errr. leave the kitty a LONNNeeeee. JOSHWOAAAHHH
sigh. i was soo hoping this was the end of this kid and his loud mother ]
on my second night at the motel errr hotel, one everlasting loud sound system was playing the entire night
likklegen fell asleep and I was left to read a book
dozing on and off, finally @ 4.00 am after I had dozed off for the umpteenth time, there was the sweet silence I had been longing for. finally some sleep.
The plan was to wake up before sunrise , walk on the beach and wait for it to rise.

I thought so too until i found out that you have to go into settings to change it. It defaults to showing picture links only when logged in (cause I could see the pics when I wasnt logged into the site) but once I logged in only links. The last time I went to Jamaica was 2011. This is the longest break I've had since I started going. I planned to post pictures...at some point I will.Comment
