Oh my, 6 glorious days in Negril then heading to the south coast. Well, if you can’t do a word report, would you consider throwing up a couple of hundred pictures???? I plan to venture out more and more with each reach. Would love to see where you been cuz I might wanna go there myself.

Regarding Juta one way is $20 when you book from there. You can pre book on-line at $15 each way. The buses are nice and pump AC all the way. At least all the ones I rode in. However, you are on the driver’s schedule so depending on where you are on route to be dropped off, it may take you a while to get to your hotel. I would still recommend Juta, especially traveling alone because the price is right. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

Schutlz and I stopped to chat with this vendor as we were leaving. Really nice guy and I wished I had taken a picture of his face but my eyes were glued on that orange.





He had a cart full yet to sell. Still he reached in, chose two select pieces, peeled and sliced them for us. Sweet fruit dat. We took our time eating and talking while folks continued to move about in all directions. The Sav market erupts with activity every Friday and Saturday. I really wanted to buy fish, but it was getting late and I had to head back to my spot to rest up for the evening’s special gathering.

I bought a bag of oranges, shortly after, we said good bye to him and each other.

Grabbed a route taxi. Ongle me wan innah cyar…for a minute or two. But by the time he was on the road to Negril, five more were crammed in the back. LAWD talk about fun. An older woman chatted about her men all the way to the taxi stop. She was hilarious, had us all rollin including the driver. I wished I could recall the things she said, but if I did, I couldn’t post them.

I get to the taxi stop in Negril. Out of one ride and into another. I go to take more money out of my bag and realize I did not have my purse with the $$$ in it from the room. Stifled panic moment. I also remember not putting it in my bag, but setting it on top of the suitcases. I forgot to take it with me when I left. I sit in the front seat of the taxi trying not to lose it.

The driver is waiting for a full load. I prepare for the worse…the money and purse is gone and if they are, it’s my fault for leaving it out. Two more people get in and we take off.

I go to the office for the new room key, enter the new room, empty my hands and search. No purse. Elevated panic moment. My two suit cases are there, still locked. All the food from the first unit has been transferred. Even stuff I didn’t pack was there, but no purse. I sit on the bed, dreading having to report this and dreading having to tap into my account for more money.

I flip the smaller suit case off the larger one to get at my ATM card. There, laying flat on top of the case was my purse. All three envelopes were still inside, sealed. Of course tears and prayers of thanks flowed before I got myself together to find out who transferred my stuff. Yep, it was the little housekeeping lady. I found her. Told her I wanted to give her an extra sumtin sumtin for moving my things and making sure everything was secure. She gave me the biggest smile. Then when she looked in her hand, she gave me the biggest hug and I gave her one in return.

I’ve never had anything stolen while in Jamaica. Well, I had my camera held hostage once, but the situation was completely different. Anywhoooo…trust in staff at the places I stay is just as important as accommodations. This is why the Beach Club Condos will always be one of my first choices when staying in Negril. I also love the personal feel while I’m there. They know me and watch out for me. Much thanks me do give.

Back to the room, I take a short nap before getting ready for the evening.

Oh Vi .... Never have I heard of some many money tribulations for one who travels to Jamaica by herself all the time ~

Even back when you stayed with us - forgetful with the cash card on the way to the bank, your ID for the cambio, your money pouch for this n that ~

all your produce looked so very lovely!!! did you have to barter pay for your cab ride with your cucumbers??? I sure hope not cuz you sure were looking forward to enjoying those ~ were you cooking for the group with all that produce?

Laurel….I haven’t always been so fortunate when I get careless like that. I’ve paid a high price a couple of times. Still, I’m imperfect and will continue to be forgetful which is why I would only blame myself if something bad should happen as a result. But when it turns out good in the end, as it did this time, I never hesitate to give thanks in word and prayer.

No, the veggies and fruits were all for me. I go through about 5 cucumbers mixed with about 3 tomatoes a day. Love them marinated in fresh squeezed lime juice. I cold chill a bowl in freezer to take out on the beach with me. I had plenty of room in taxi for my bags cuz I was in the front. Oh yeah…I also had a pineapple jabbing my leg all the way to Negril But it was worth it because the baby was sweeeet!

Our Second Toast in Black and White

I laugh when I think about our individual priorities when it came to planning our reach. Mokatee did hotel research, I did the night life and Sammy did restaurants. Each day Tee and I got 2-3 emails from Sammy containing the links to restaurants and eateries in Negril. I think we amassed about 50 places. Each email ended with, “Ladies, we’ve got to try this place.” One day she sent a menu and we actually ordered everything from appetizers to desert. LOL Never did get to that spot.

Well, as much as we tried, we couldn’t dine at all of Sammy’s choices so we had to choose. We decided that dinner at a fancy place was a must. Sistafriends must get dressed up for at least one night out together and dine like true Divas. Mokatee, Sammy and I decided our night out would be black and white attire.

Sammy came up with a few choices of where to eat and we all agreed on The Rockhouse. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]
