Ottawa: The Nation's Capital

Several weeks ago, The Junior and his team had a basketball tournament at Carleton University in the nation's capital, a 4.5-hour drive from home. We were to play two games on Saturday, and at least one on Sunday, so with time to kill in between games, I went walking - with my camera in tow - around the campus of this beautiful facility.

The sun was harsh, not the best time for pictures, but I tried to make the best of the situation.









The city's bus and rail transportation system goes through the campus.

<span style="font-weight: bold">SistahD:</span> For sure, it would have been great to catch up with you in person again (I haven't played a game of dominoes in forever!), but the turn around was way too quick on this trip Carleton was fabulous; The Junior loved it, especially the basketball program, so it's on top of his list of universities for Fall '10.

I had seen some joggers doing their thing along here earlier. With the canal on the other side, what a great place to jog or simply go for a stroll.



Even if I wasn't in the mood for walking, what an inviting trail!

Lots of places I could have stopped and stayed for hours, but in the first picture below, I could have stayed here all day.





This iron rail really &quot;grabbed&quot; me. Not sure why...



Still tranquil...



There was a bit of wind on this day, and the rippling sound of running water was like a calming balm to the soul.

Yep, I tend to forget the &quot;e&quot;, as that spelling just doesn't seem/sound right. However, the uni was founded in the county of Carleton, which was named after a British North American Governor General named Guy Carleton. I guess you could blame the spelling on the Brits

I decided to take the off-beat path shown below to see what was beyond &quot;the entrance&quot;. It felt a tad eerie initially, but opened beautifully to a world of graffiti art.
