Sev's this post gets to me ...
I would give ANYTHING to get my son to travel with me again ... just can not make him budge ...
Oh Shug what an awesome trip report!!!
and the Miss you can tell is a definite Mess ( I love the nicknames) - you can tell there is never a dull moment with her around...
I must confess that I had never really given Panama much thought when it comes to places on my to do list... but after reading your report and seeing your pictures - you have definitely piqued my curiosity...

Traveling with the Mess is a mixed bag b/c she is so hype all the time and I usually need lots of quiet time. So while I LOVE it(like being able to expose her to other cultures and making sure that she appreciates ALL that she has at home), I should always look into some quality babysitting services so mommy can have a chance to do her own thing.
Mo Fire-I'm totally loving your report. China was on my list, but now even moreso. The Miss always meets animals. On this trip we ate outside almost everynight. At one place a cat came by and the Miss was going to feed it. I reminded her of her experience in JA. She fed one cat. Next thing we knew, you looked over and it looked like wild kingdom. Cats and dogs everywhere. She decided not to feed the cat. We only saw one cat at Gamboa. The cat acted scared. I wondered if the cat was used to being shooed away b/c whenever we approached him and even gave him the Miss' hand to get her scent, he would dash off.

From snow capped mountains, beautiful natural parks, to fantastic beaches. If I wasn't looking at language schools, I probably wouldn't have considered it. I know that it is more popular among the British than it is among Americans. That's what I was told by the tour operators. Although lots of Americans do live there, I don't think it has jumped off yet as a vacation spot. They are doing a lot more of an increase in terms of their promotion to the US according to one of the mags or newspapers that I read while I was there. Peace and Blessings
One of the things that Robert and I talked about was Panama’s fight for independence and the schisms that were created by the Americans being in Panama. There were a number of sections of the City, one of them was the Amador Causeway, that Panamanians were not allowed to enter. Another was the Canal zone. Robert talked about growing up with parents that both had jobs thru the Canal and being able to enter the zone. He stated that people that weren’t US military were called zonians. He talked about how people that lived outside of the zone thought that zonians were stuck up b/c they usually also spoke English and had access to goods and privileges that weren’t open to most Panamanians. Panama gained independence on December 31, 1999.
