Since I am such a good hostes I took my relatives visiting from London to the mountains last week. I wanted to stay over night because it is a lot of driving in one day but they didnt think they would want to. Of course once they arrived and wanted to see more, I gave them the "I told you so" speech.
The drive from Edmonton to Banff is 4 hours and a bit if you do the speed limit. We got there in 3 hours

So, we spent a very lovely day in Banff but Jasper will have to wait for another trip.

Road into the national park from Calgary. It was cool to hear their reactions as we got closer to the mountains





Entrance into the National Park. You do have to pay to visit the parks although I dont recall at the moment what the cost was. You can buy daily and weekly family passess which are much cheaper than the individual ones.

I clicked on the link and this magnificent view greeted my tired eyes. This reminds me of the mountains I saw just as the plane was landing in LA. I was in total awe.

Because I wasnt paying attention to the signs I drove right pass the town of Banff. Instead of doing a u-turn in the middle of the road, I just decided to drive to Lake Louise. Lake Louise is approx 45km from the town of banff. Much road upgrades are happening at the moment which is great. The roads between the two towns are not twinned which can cause some serious traffice delays on long weekends. They are now twinning the roads, so within a couple of months there will be two lanes flowing in both directions

Our National Parks are just beautiful! I love going to the Parks because your whole body just relaxes and you breathe a sigh of relief when you can take it all in.

The canoe rental cabin.



This man was amazing. He has been coming to the same spot every Sunday for the last 45 years to play the horn thingy----my memory is so bad lately He lives in the town and is so proud of the area. He got everyone to to sing Amazing Grace while he played. He reminded us that what we are looking at is God in His full glory. That only God could have created mountains so big and a forest so beautiful. And then said a prayer for all of those who were listening.

Even if you werent a religious person, you would have been moved by his passion.
