Speaking of Jamaicans working in Cayman. Yes the Cayman Island dollar is very strong but I don't understand some of the Jamaican workers that I met. They are working as nannies, housekeepers, etc. at an average wage of CI$100.00 per week. That's lot of Jamaican dollars however these folks still have to live in Cayman and the cost of living there is not low.
I got the opposite of the impression you got. Seemed to me that Jamaicans voluntarily went there in hopes of making a better life for their families back in Jamaica. Also the Jamaicans I hung with for the 3 weeks seemed to be enjoying themselves. But we can only use our experiences to judge a situation.
