In a burst of patriotic fervor following President Obama's Inauguration, we decided to do a tourist trip to Washington DC...I hadn't been there in almost 15 years and Pooh hadn't visited in almost 25 years, so we had a bunch of catching up to do....
One of the benefits to living where we do is our proximity to the Westchester County Airport where USAirways operates a couple of commuter flights a day to DC...that same proximity also allowed us to make the trip in about 3.5 hours, door-to-door...
When we got to the airport, one of these little 50-seaters was waiting for us...

We were up in the air for maybe 40 minutes....we left Reagan National and hopped right on the Metro (that's DC's subway system)...we saw this as we rode along
...
Our home for the next 4 nights was The Hotel Harrington, family owned and operated for the last 90 years or so....the Harrington is by no means the fanciest hotel in the District, but it's clean, quiet and secure...and the location can't be beat...we were two blocks from the National Mall and 4 blocks from the White House....most of the major tourist sites are within walking distance...and walk we did!
Not wanting to waste too much time, we dropped our bags in the room, grabbed the camera and headed out into the streets....
