For many years, the original Star Spangled Banner ( the flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write our National Anthem ) hung here, but time and the elements took their toll on the fabric, so the original was placed in a hermetically sealed display case just behind this wall...no photos allowed apparently the flash from a camera would further damage the fabric...in it's place is this somewhat stylized flag....

nice pictures! reminds me how much i like that place

i have stayed at The Willard but home base was the JW Marriott across the street from it - i was using "other people's money"

did you get to see Union Station - that place is awesome too - especially if you take a train from NYC and end up there - gorgeous

we never made it to the train station, amongst other places...our plans were <span style="font-weight: bold">very</span> flexible

the camera started acting up a bit at this point, so we walked the two blocks back to the hotel to get the backup....which means I have to empty the next memory card....
