Sue, one thing for certain, there are many stories among people here...
So anyway, last weekend I rescued this photo of my grandmother and her two sisters from a dumpster. Three Frenchwomen. My grandmother is the middle one.
Then there was my great grandmother's pic headed to the dumpster too. I faintly remember her but I was young when she passed and she lived in North Dakota so I don't think I saw her much.
Oh Sue, long story. My folks moved into assisted living but had been living for many years in my grandparents house. I tried to get them to start cleaning out for years with no success. Now they are into the act of throwing everything in a dumpster because they suddenly call it all trash. It's 150 miles away and I doubt I will go back. I can't take it. They said they threw out all of my grandmothers photos.
that sucks. we had a box of old pictures in the basement. my sister actually started cutting them and writing *cute* little things on them. seriously, why the hell would you do that to a 60 y/o picture?
yeah it does suck. I could write a book about what I saw going on last weekend but suffice to say, they got upset because my brother asked for a raincoat.
sigh...

We had to do the same BUT opposite with my mom's apartment when we put her in a long term care facility... she had been asking us for years to 'take what we wanted' but no one really wanted to, while she is with us. Suddenly we were forced to do just that - I ended up suggesting what each brother or grandchild should take, and reasons why, as well as pictures to be scanned and digitized so we all get copies. Now we are transposing the images onto a photo frame so she can enjoy them in 'the home'.
I have something special I'd like to share - can someone tell me of a site that I can upload music files to that can then be shared here? I tried youtube - but it wasn't avideo file and it would not convert it...
