Marilyn I know how it feels to travel solo...well mi nuh single but I could very well be with all my friends and their male companions...just me and mi two long hands..I hate traveling without the man.

BTW still looking fab and that Pepper is good peoples ain't she?

I had a quick read thru early today and been busy ever since.

hmmm ... I don't know ...

I want to say ~ find joy in the opportunity to be able to do all this travel to these various destinations.

but - I know hearing none of that helps shake the lonesome blues.

just keep on traveling ~ keep experiencing things and places.

keep on making new friends ~

keep on sharing ~

In retrospect (which they say hindsight is 20/20 vision), this foul mood was a combination of not having that special someone on YET another what should be happy trip, and the fact that the past few months of my life have been shadowed with 3 complete jerks back to back. I think 3 was just too many to take. Also the fact that I couldn't go to Jamaica, which was where I REALLY wanted to be, because I had to come home on the 16th to deal with jerk #2. My days were clouded with anger because I was even in this position, and anxiety about how all of this would go. It was just too much for a mere birthday, and Miami to overcome.

(Edited to add, all 3 of my jerks are domestic jerks here in Memphis...this statement was in no way a reflection on Jamaica or her men)

I don't usually respond in the travel threads but I have to say, I enjoyed this report more than most you've shared. Why? Because you were real. Raw-Real and it shows a side of you that many can appreciate. The fact that you told your story with such pizzazz speaks volumes about the person you are inside.

Keep dancing.
Keep believing.
And keep sharing.

That is what life is all about.

Yes, it is hard to be alone but no one would know it by the way you tell it. You were truly inspiring.

It is hard to be alone sometimes, but me believe it always beats being with someone and not having any fun just because they're being a jerk. Many who have someone if they were to be honest would tell you that they are lonely as hell.

Me live by this...<span style="font-weight: bold">it is better to be alone and feel alone than to be with someone and feel lonely.</span>

Hey Marilyn.

Sorry you were in a bit of a funk during your birthday trip.

I have traveled many times by myself and some of those have been the best and the worst of my trips. All in all though I don't regret a single moment.

Yes, sounds like you need to take some time to reflect, but you will be a better person for it.

<span style="font-style: italic">Just to sidetrack for a second...I have learned so much about life this year. My father went from being a very independent, active senior to an old man who is totally dependent, wearing diapers and living in a hospital until he can get a bed in a nursing home. Most of the things he worked hard for and collected over a lifetime and were such prized possessions to him ended up in a landfill. Must be the year to take stock of what is really important in life I guess huh.</span>

Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday Marilyn! I seriously wish you good health, much love, long life and many more adventures.
