Then I found my way to route 58 in Carver. Home of the cranberry bog.

Most bogs have been harvested by now. Some are still draining the water from the harvest...

Not sure what you call this, but I know there's a name for it. It's not a true rainbow...

soooo I took a likkle break at DQ and had a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard with walnuts & whipped cream!! Yummy, but could have used more pie crust.

By this time I was back in my old town, Abington.
I stopped by the pond to enjoy my treat and took a few snaps. The water mirror calm.

So across the road I notice an entrance to a cemetery. The sun was still above the trees and cemeteries ALWAYS have beatiful trees. I found a pretty maple with flaming orange leaves.

There was another off a ways by itself.

So I take one last view from under the branches

and get a feeling someone is watching and catch something out of the corner of my eye...

I got goose bumps from head to toe and my heart was pounding...
Alone in a cemetery with a coyote!!!

He was no more than 30 feet away and I am a HUGE chicken!!

I watched him all the way back to my car which was about 20 feet away, and he watched me. I kept telling myself it was ok cos he was alone. No pack to back him up.

As I got into the car, he settled himself down and just chilled.

Now I'm in my car & safe so I drive around to his little perch and try to catch a few pics.
This first one was thru the windscreen...

Eventually he trots off into the woods.

Anyway, I remembered seeing 2 women with small dogs walking thru near the entrance of the cemetery and as I round a corner they're walking with very big sticks.
I told them about the coyote and they were already kinda freaked, so I offered them a ride out to the main road. They were happy to take it.
I had to drive back thru to exit and sure enough the coyote was back out in open. He ran off as I approached and then I was back in the real world.

I came directly home! Happily mi baggy was clean!

whoa!!! That trickster looks HEALTHY!
(btw...I jus heard one howling bout a quarter mile fram here 5 minutes ago....and my cat's still outside and she won't come in! dang!)

My cat hasn't been out in years!! I'm too scared for his sorry old baxide!! I once heard them hoowling right outside a cottage I was staying in... alone... off season...

that usually enters my mind.

A coyote inna grave yard.

I think I would have given him/her an offering.
a relative had pet wolf who could be diverted with butterfinger bars.

Round here I think the magpies pair up wid dem....like the ravens do with the wolves. I had to talk with my cat bout the noise the magpies make when they see her out hunting....you know, like beware.

i love love the pictures

i would have been scared to death to see that coyote - remember the movie - cujo

i could help but notice the date on the tombstone - it appears the little boy died when he was 6 years old

i love old cementeries - i have a few grave rubbings i did in england

nothing new here - abu went to school today - i hope he makes it - he was still coughing a little (sounded fake), but no fever - i hope he didn't do the head on the radiator trick

my house is all painted - i like how it looks alot - feels so much nicer driving up to the house - painted the front door black - i had to check the feng shui of a black front door and it was good

looking for cooler days this weekend - down to 70's

Geesh you are observant Seveen. I had to go back and check out the tombstone.

Now that is a fat coyote. They are scrawny here in Oregon, but I love to see them, even though they are scared of humans.
