yuck! anyway, onto better things! the concert last night was amazing! and got right up to the stage. Think the whole Cuban community in NL was there!! Read there's 100 in the land. Which seems a lot (for a country you can't get out of), but then again, there's 10.000 brits in this town alone!

The place look so clean and inviting in the park areas and on the streets! U neighbors naw joke- that was the street that them use as dining room?! den them coulden put di table to di side likkle bit more so traffic could pass on one side? Or the streets are that narrow. Dam!

Not true. It's in the city. Checked the council's website. 122! in Amsterdam! out of 176 nationalities.
76!! Jamaicans!! wonder where they hang out, don't know more than a couple! (we're talking as from Jamaica, not Jamaicans from England, several women who are friends of mine).
Probably just married with kids and working etc.

- You were in Amsterdam?? Great! Hope you had a great time! The service in the cafes ain't great. They could learn A LOT!! from US service industry...
- are you kidding? cars are not king in this place people are.
In fact, cars are being kind of "shoved out" of town as much as possible (of course, cars are important, especially for people who cannot walk, or have difficulty, and older citizens....).
Parking in this town is 5 euros per HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!
But the public transport in this country is brilliant. Trains, buses, boats, bikes, etc. Even have rickshaws now in town
(Oh, I'm so happy, watching bbc news and Obama is on the stuff about the Health bill getting thru. I was already in a good mood this morning when I heard )
During the 60-year anniversary of the end of WW 2, they had a fabulous re-enactment of the liberation of Amsterdam, the day the Canadians rolled into town. It was great. I took my son - come on lad, see what your grandparents went thru - downtown, it was amazing. Was standing by this old lady who told me she was 8 years old and standing on the side of the road when it happened. How amazing is that?!

(Prince's Canal).
