by now my feet were achy and it was close to 6pm but i was no where close to finish

Love the photos of the cathedrals. I also like the one of the man sitting on the street. It is so natural. He did not try to put on an act for the photo. He was himself.

He was one of two street persons I saw peddling for money the other was a struggling old British chap. Couldn't quite figure out why he left England for Spain but we spoke for long...

Continuing...

Sleep did not come until close to 6AM and at that point jet lag was wrecking havoc on my body. I stayed in bed until close to 4PM. Tired. I wanted to see how a late Sunday afternoon is spent here and headed straight for the beach. To my surprise the beach was flocked with people, sellers and various sorts. This so much reminded me of spending a Sunday afternoon at Hellshire. Really wish I had my swim wear and I did just that, minus swim suit and not bothering with the camera, I enjoyed a late Sunday afternoon by the Mediterranean Sea.

Since it was Sunday, I left the beach and headed to church the grandest of all Palacio Episcopal filled with gaudy, gilted, treasured works of art. The architecture alone was boggling...

On my way to Rrrrrronda!

I checked out of the Hotel California late Monday morning and took the local bus heading which supposedly to take me to the main bus terminal. I wanted to get to Ronda as the travel book said it offered so many surprises. I did not think the passengers on the bus particularly cared that I was taking their pictures and couple elderly women righteously cussed me out! Once off the first bus, which cost 1.20 Euros, It took all of 30 minutes to find out exactly where I should head to get on a second bus which will take me to the main bus terminal and from there I would get the city-to-city bus line to Ronda. Imagine walking up and down a busy crowdy street with a heavy backpack straddling your back, and dragging a backpack on wheels, strapped down with camera and money pouch.

Malaga was on the clean side but truthfully, I found the Spaniards to be a bit brusque and not at all open to english speakers. This trip as really highlighted the need to be fluent in a second language.

Glad you are enjoying my trip so far... it gets a bit more exciting (lol!)

I finally got the bus route right and was at the main terminal and bought a round trip ticket to Ronda. The bus ride to Ronda was a pleasant and comfortable two and half hour ride and the driver kept a steady stream of Bob Marley music playing. I thought how cool! It was early afternoon once off the bus, I hooked up with an old British woman and together we found the Hotel Tajo in the middle of this small typical Spanish town and got a room reservation. I wasted no time hitting the streets as I wanted to see what Ronda had to offer. Since it was siesta the streets around town were quiet except for a few tourists mingling around. The map was confusing and I could not figure out which way to go, so I kept an eye on a couple tourists and from there, I started finding the most note worthy places.

Ronda is the birth home of bull fights the Plaza Toros Ronda offered a great museum rich on about Spanish bull fights, dueling, and the Spanish aristocracy. I loved every moment in the Plaza Toros museum and got some chuckles as I watched a few tourists doing their pretend bull fights in the bull ring. Other museums which I enjoyed were a contemporary museum dedicated to photography and natural history – what a mix and welcomed the time to sit in an IMAX style theatre to rest my already achy feet and take in a natural history filming about the great motherland Africa. One of the best sightseeing places was the lookout view into a staggering gorge and the pristine valley below. From the view above I could see people on a trail heading into the gorge but after I dilly-dallied at so many museum stops, I lost sight of the crowd and could not figure my way down. I made so many museum stops in Ronda but the museo that offered a history on the Spanish inquisition, a death chamber room and a room dedicated to witchcraft and the occult was to say the least a bit frightening. I beat feet out of that place! Ronda has a lot to offer and it is a spectacular town. I enjoyed my day here but will head out tomorrow for Granada.
