I am reluctant to take pictures of unsuspecting people, but was intrigued by these two ladies trying to figure out the vending machine in the parking lot (I appeased my conscience by going over and helping them) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]



Below, this was just the door leading into the store. Inside was all kinds of Jamaican paraphernalia.

I do recall there being a pizza store on that corner. Maybe that is the store they moved across the street where the branch of CIBC used to be.

At the start of the summer, I set out on what was a mission of personal interest; to discover on foot, Toronto's downtown core. Now that it has been accomplished, let me use this opportunity to thank everyone who has viewed and taken part in this thread to date. There are not enough words to describe the immesurably thrill I experienced in doing the Friday foot 'tours' of the downtown core, and discovering how wonderful and diverse the city of Toronto really is. As in the case in any metropolis, TO has its share of challenges, but all things considered, it is still a great city; a wonderful mix of the old and the new.

A special thank-you for all the wonderful anecdotes that took the pictures much further than I could have imagined. It just goes to show how the personalities on this board are just as diverse in experience, and history, as the city itself.

The tours, and taking the pictures, were a lot of fun. Sharing them and being enriched by the responses were much better.

the B&B restaurant is a very nice little spot. the lady who runs it, Sharon is a very gracious lady. the thing that ruined it for me is the boorish behaviour of the jamaican men. i like to have my little gin and tonic in the evenings and i'd often go there. however, these flipping trogdolites can't seem to fathom that a woman is entitled to buy a drink for herself and just wants to be left alone. if i smile at them it's an invitation that mi wah "deh wid him". the one thing that stopped me dead was the guy who just up soh hawl mi up and wah kiss me. i was shocked [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] i haven't been back since. guess being friendly just doesn't pay [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Oh, it wasn't much different than what a guy would have said if he saw someone passing that he wanted to check out [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] . I was taken aback by how brazen they were, and the look on the face of the girl they were 'hitting on' was priceless.

No! The intended victim gave them a look that was so sharp that if looks could kill, all three of them would be dead! As haki said, maybe it was for shock effect, but it sounded alien to my ears.

Thanks CEW .....been awhile since I visted the downtown core of TO.
The picture of St. Luke's church brought a smile to my face as it's where I sang in my very first band.
They rented us a PA system and paid us $50 for the summer...Lol. I still see and talk with 4 of the 5 members of that band, still best bud's for 42 years.

The Hockey hall of fame is where my wife use to bank when she first started working , back in the 60's...Lol.

Honest Ed's , still remember getting there early for the door crasher with my mother as a kid.

The Hard Rock , an old piano player of mine was one of the first owners and we played upstairs... for a year...!!
