...a navajo woman was painting Xmas decorations in her van while selling pottery on the other side of the bridge. She had been up to the N.W. near where we lived. She flew into SeaTac airport, met wholesale customers from various enterprises in the conference center there, sold about a million bucks worth of SW native stuff, and then spent the rest of the week touring Victoria B.C. and other stuff in Washington state....one never knows....



earthships dot the horizon just east of Taos. Self sufficient in water and power....

...a low-cost housing alternative...a yurt. The elevation here in the "high desert" is 7000ft. Takes some getting used to.

...down in the valley, another low cost housing unit....this one had grid power...but looked recently abandoned although there was an old car parked in the driveway. (cars everywhere, but hard to tell the dead ones from the live ones!)


...lots of stuff to observe and muse upon along the way...this could be taken a million different ways...I call it "Southwest Art"....couldn't help but wonder about the "two story" log hogan in the background..."old world meets new"....

...at 5pm we came to "T" in the road...a main hiway.....we turned left instead of right, hoping to find a place to stay in the town of "Cuba" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img] I love it!...pulled into this motel, unloaded, and then had a great meal of encheladas smothered in green chile sauce, and for real-type sopapias...and retired for the night...



...got up the next morning early to be in Chaco Canyon by 8...stopped and hiked up a hill for a half hour to catch the sunrise...took about 20 pictures of it....hard not to produce awesome photos in these here parts [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]...

...I've got time to post 2 more photos before I have to do some chores ( crawl under the house and fix the sump pump and switch so the house doesn't wash away)...


...I'll jump ahead a little bit to a dirt road we were cruisin in the "desert", ...stopped to take a picture of some goats in a pen and met another new "friend", who gave LB a kiss as she was trying to focus the camera....Aawwwww!!! The dogs here are not one bit different than any dog you'd see in Jamaica!...if we'd arrived here by car instead of plane, I'd have three of em I met sitting beside me right now...

...while I tried to stay focused on "lifestyle" pics, it was hard to ignore the natural beauty everywhere....here's a link to an awesome Taos photographer that posts stuff every day, and doesn't have to travel very far to come up with the most awesome stuff I've ever seen:

Oh cool, thanks for the memory refresher map. We sold at flea market in Santa Fe one spring, that was pretty fun. Getting there sucked but that's a whole nother trip report, lol. Done the southern route many times and always stop in Albuquerque, I thought about moving there but learning to spell the name would be a female dog.

Santa Fe & north is nice nice! I'm getting a kick out of seeing it white!

...here's another one Nan [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img], of the 4 corners area....into and after Chaco Canyon we tried to avoid paved roads as much as possible (a lot of the roads we ended up on were'nt on this map),...making our way up to Mexican hat for the night...posed to head into the "Valley of the Gods" at daybreak.

Thanks Seveen!...it wasn't as cold as it looks...DRY AIR!...I think I took about 230 pics so its hard to choose what to post...the road to Chaco, and the ruins here...




...I like the way they blend into the environment...

...up close and personal...and photographed a billion times by millions of people...the nice thing about it was that we had the whole place to ourselves, sort of.
