...I swung around the last turn to the right leading up the hill to the various rental agencies....timewise, we were right on the money. LB said somethin to me that I didn't quite catch...so, uh, evidently I must have taken my foot off the gas for a moment while I turned my head toward her, and said "what?"...and she started to say what she was going to say or had just said or something...as I looked back to the road and pressed on the throttle, which now had zero effect on our forward speed....1 block from the space where we would park it. In fact, the speedometer shot to 30 and we were doin 2...

...well, I'm here today to tell ya that there must be some kinda force up there somewhere that at just the right time, and at just the right moment, no sooner and no later, [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img]...puts it's finger on yur behind and gives ya a little shove in the direction ya need. We made it to the rental place...and were glad to see the same gal that had checked us out in the car when we picked it up in the first place. ....Her bein the same one we complained to about the rude guy in the office [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img](who made us feel smaller than a titmouse when after figurin we were smokers, ...felt obliged to verbally hammer us three times about not smokin in the vehicle...but only after sellin us $200 of additional TOTAL coverage)...yes, this was the same sweet (really!) gal who told me that we would go over the car when I returned it...and it was the same gal to which I replied that I didn't intend to return it cuz I was going to set it ablaze two blocks from here when I was done with it, cuz I have FULL COVERAGE and she wouldn't have to worry about checkin ANYTHING out...the insurance adjusters would do it...no need to thank me, have a nice day. She laughed at that time...and this time didn't even look at the car...cept when she was checkin the mileage, she quipped " I don't smell any evidence of any one smoking." ...We jumped the shuttle to the airport here...and as we approached it, LB said "I can't find my phone...I had it beside me in the car before I got out."...the camera is still wet...

...so...I said "Let's go downstairs to the courtesy phones and call Handy Dandy Rental Cars an see if they happen to know the whereabouts of your phone...an take it from there..." I had happened to glance out on the tarmack, and noticed a plane takin off...an other than that things had been rather silent for a while,...jet engine wise. I hadn't noticed any planes comin in. Snow was still pilin up...an I wondered how much longer the shuttles would continue to run...them bein without tire chains and all....

...an people kept pilin into the airport, as if it weren't crowded enough at this hour [img]/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]...lines everywhere, an what was startin to look like a lot of confusion....so outside the downstairs door, where the ne'er-do-wells congregate near the curb of arriving courtesy vehicles [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]...I sat on the bench once again while LB was makin her call. Another comrade approached and asked me if I had any matches so he could light his cigarette...I glanced into his eyes and saw the look of a desperate man, so I struck up a conversation...which, as luck would have it, would shed further light upon our current situation. I gotta say, it never hurts to do a little "reconn" work before headin into the battle zone...

Thankyou Mina! ...and I would continue cept for 1 problem...my computer died in my arms yesterday while tryin to upload the last few pics to this here report....I guess it just couldn't handle it, ya know?...but it had been ill for a long time...and believe me, had one good life!..I'm over at a friends house doin this now...and fortunately had a few pics loaded onto photobucket before it gave it's last gasp! ...I hope y'all can bear with me for a few more days! I gotta get back home to LB for a spell...but when I return, we'll pick up where we left off with the "Desperate Stranger"...and ultimately...."The Decision".... ...thanks Mina, Hi Nan...still don't know what I'm going to do about the computer yet...Daughter unit has a friend about 60 miles away that can build em and says that for the price of a dinner, will check it out...We'll see!...Anyway, to the best of my figurin'...I should be able to wrap this story up in late June...whatwith everything else that's goin on in our live's....and hopefully I'll be postin from New Mexico ....
