Sammy, thanks for sharing your adventure in the City. I've only been a couple of times and walked the entire city with a friend who lives off Broadway on 92nd Street. Lawd my feet were on fire!!! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

My favorite part of one trip was going to a street fair on Broadway up around 121st st. And of course H&H bagels & Zabars. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]

BND - lol no but it sure felt like Kingston. I woke up one mornign at 2:00 to a barage of gunshots and a guy lay dead right infront of my yard. They police didn't even clean up the blood and the children had to walk through it to school unitl the rain came a week later and washed it away. AT least in Kingston dem will wash weh di blood.

Living in the 'bubs is different and you only see one side of the city, there is another side that is just downright disgusting.

I am going there next month and I booked the last flight in and the first available flight out. I have not exaggerated anything I have said, I have only spoken freely.

Dayum, I never realised how much I HATE that place and the mice, oh how they scare me. I mean seriously, can't we put down baits.

So who had the best view of the city... Top of the Rock or Empire State Building??

i am not a complete suburbanite.. i have spent years in nyc.. from birth.. and ive seen quite a bit.... there is the bowels to any city.. all over the world... you have done like what newscasters to.. spin the worst.. ...

i dont care where you live...... or lived.. it is not common fare to see a gunshot body and blood in the street for weeks.... that's just nonsense... and im sorry you hate it so much.. and your experience was horrendous.. it's a city.. i love it.. but it's home.. but i do not have rose colored eyes so much so to not see its woes..... your description is just not an accurate one.. its an extreme.. and to compare it to kingston is ludicrous... esp when it comes to sanitation...... neither is terrific..... but kingston is no shining star.. and i LOVE kingston tooo.... very much...

sammy.. sorry for the double derail... just irks me to see your positive thread.. be torn with such negativity.. in such a dramatic and unrealistic way..... it is a great city with much to offer.. not for everyone.. esp non city folks.. it can be overwhelming... even i take it in doses.. .. do my thing and leave............

Speaking of sore feet....boy did my feet HURT and bad! It's amazing when asking for directions someone would say "oh it's only a few blocks you can walk it" only to find out it was a mile away [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img]...one thing is for sure they have got to be the most in shape group of people! You know I have heard worse stories of Jamaica and love it to my soul.....so others opinions are just that....I listen then judge for myself....so far I LOVE NYC and plan to return later this year.

BND no disrespect here but unless there is a warning on the board which prohibits one person from posting about their experience in a certain place then I am free to say TRUTHFULLY what my experience is.

If I started a new post would that make you feel better? The truth is I have experienced filth, rodents, murders, high cost of living, racism and have witnessed robberies, and incompetent police protection. Don't get so up in arms about NYC no one owns it.

Many people go to Jamaica and talk about the negatives they have seen, I guess they should just keep their mouth shut.

I went to see the Color Purple a couple of months ago and I enjoyed it as well. We didn’t get to tour so I’m glad you are bought the experience to us. Excellent photos. The shot of Dakota Building almost made me cry.

glad you enjoyed my mini report and photos!

mr sammy and i really did enjoy the city...he said he hasn't seen me smile that much outside of jamaica ever.

we didn't actually attend amateur night but during our tour the guide put on a mock show and it was too funny....we toured with a group of middle school kids....so they put on a show...and mr sammy did well too

i think my fav was the ride through central park....also enjoyed rachel farrell but her performance could have been anywhere....but the central park experience could have only been in NYC.......it was magical!

Nice report Sammy, I was in NYC two weeks ago to visit a friend of mine, got some cheap tickets to see the Producers from playbill.com then went to the lower east side to see another friend play in a band at the living room, eventually turned in after 3am, after getting a pastrami sandwich at Katz, only in NYC and I felt very safe, but I can only take that city in doses.
