New to forum - advice on moving?

Hi all!

Im new to the forum and was hoping to get some advice:

Im from the US and my boyfriend is Jamaican. Unfortunately he's having some immigration problems and it looks like he is going to get deported back to Jamaica. I want to come to Jamaica to live with him for a few months until we can work out a more permanent solution. Has anyone here ever dealt with a situation like this? Any advice I could get on finding work, moving tips or any other general information I should know would be extremely appreciated!

Welcome to the boards.. I would suggest perusing the TekMiBackA yard/On the Move forum and read through the topics there about what it would take to live in Jamaica..

I would also suggest perusing Jamaicaholics and asking questions about visiting Jamaica on a regular basis.


May we ask why was your boyfriend deported?

Kind of a crazy story, but happened to be in the wrong place the the wrong time. Was at a friends when immigration agents came there, looking for someone else. Took IDs of everyone at the house and when they ran him through the system it showed he had an immigration warrant out from 2003. Seems like the warrant stemmed from a deportation order from that same year.

errr chances are they wont let him back into the country so be prepared to move there permanently.
