Expropriation of Jamaican icons

Hello Everybody!
My name is Winston Patterson and I am a married 40 year-old father of three residing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. I am a pharmacist by training and have been all around the globe. Every now and then I converse with my fellow expatriates and one of them has of lately been repeatedly expressing his concern that the people of Jamaica are selling away to foreigners our cherished hotels, seaside properties, remaining profitable industries and even our national airline, Air Jamaica. This is an utterly disturbing trend which must be remediated by intervention from us expatriates who are members of the global Jamaican diaspora. Upon a response to this posting I will delve further into this issue and offer my solutions.

I don't know about selling out Jamaican icons.

Since i dont remember Jamaicans owning much of these icons in the first place any way.
My personal opinion is that the majority of the Jamaicans of the diaspora are generally too financially illiterate to recognize the benefits of investing in Jamaica.

they listen to the hype about how government is robbing this and robbing that.
Not that some of that is not going on. but if the government was robbing 1% of what foreign investors with the collusion with locals, there would be not much left.
There is an important area where changes are needed to initiate any meaningful investment by the diaspora.

That is to create a reasonable deposit guarantee.
I mean what is up with US3,000 deposit guarantee?
Is that all the government expect people or ordinary means to save?
And what is the difference between investing in alternative programs and saving above the US3,000 level?
Is it any more secure than alternative investment??
Why can't the government buy reinsurance to raise it to about US50,000?
What is so impossible about doing so??
