I am just curious. Is there really a $90 per month per car tax?
What % state income tax is there?
Is car insurance really high (like MA)?

I'm just wondering. I am afraid that our new senator and gov (the king of Medicaid fraud) are going to privatize a lot of jobs. So i am doing a little research though I will not go any where unless I have to.

It depends what town you live in and your car tax is assessed based on the worth of your car

and your income is taxed based on what bracket you fall under....could be between 3and 5 % depending....and of course if u earn under a certain amount you can file exempt....

car insurance is cheaper than NY and not as high as MA....of course other factors are involved....

Hartford was recently rated 19 of the 25 most dangerous cities in the US. I will post the link when I get home.

ETA i believe New Haven was 18. I did not see New York, Boston or Miami on the list.

Hartford crime is mostly drug related....not much random killings.... other than that the suburbs are not so bad

TRENTON, N.J. — Hartford and New Haven were among the most dangerous cities in the nation in 2009, according to a national study released Sunday.

The study by CQ Press found St. Louis, which was rated the most dangerous city, had 2,070.1 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, compared with a national average of 429.4. That helped St. Louis beat out Camden, N.J., which topped last year's list and was the most dangerous city for 2003 and 2004.

Detroit, Flint, Mich., and Oakland, Calif., rounded out the top five. For the second straight year, the safest city with more than 75,000 residents was Colonie, N.Y.

New Haven was ranked 18th. Hartford was 19th, just above Dayton, Ohio.

The annual rankings are based on population figures and crime data compiled by the FBI. Some criminologists question the findings, saying the methodology is unfair.

Greg Scarbro, unit chief of the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, said the FBI also discourages using the data for these types of rankings.

Kara Bowlin, spokeswoman for St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, said the city actually has been getting safer over the last few years. She said crime in St. Louis has gone down each year since 2007, and so far in 2010, St. Louis crime is down 7 percent.

Erica Van Ross, spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department, called the rankings irresponsible.

&quot;Crime is based on a variety of factors. It's based on geography, it's based on poverty, it's based on the economy,&quot; Van Ross said.

&quot;That is not to say that urban cities don't have challenges, because we do,&quot; Van Ross said. &quot;But it's that it's irresponsible to use the data in this way.&quot;

I mentioned going north (citing better wages). I would be looking at around $12 k more per year (Hartford schools (if I could get in there) vs Broward schools). Mr. JD was not interested. He does AC work so he's probably better off here)

It is probably for the best. I would most likely loose my mind the first snow storm or real cold snap

I worked in juvenile detention in Miami.
I work in a center for kids that are designated &quot;EBD&quot; (emotional / behavior disorders). We have the highest % of foster care / group home kids in the county. Up north I worked jail and homeless shelter. I could probably hang

ETA It is the behavior techs and safety / security people who do all of the &quot;heavy lifting&quot;. I have to say the safety/ behavior staff at my school are great to work with.

The kids are more likely to go after them or a teacher than the nurse. Usually when a kid goes at a teacher or teacher assistant another kid or kids will handle it till safety arrives.
