Whaagwaan?

New to the board - "Respect" to everyone.
Been "lurkin" around for about a week or so - lots of characters with personality here, I see. Planning first trip (solo) to Negril in Spring 2008 and have been doing research for about a month now. Feels like I already "know" Jamaica (particularly Negril - the cliffs seem to be calling me), but of course, no amount of research done at a computer will give me the true flava of the island and the people.

Looking forward to "talking" and "debating" and sharing with everyone!

I go by the name “Jammer0727” or Caribbean translation - “Jammah” – a spin on my last name and my birthday, July 27. My astrological sign, Leo the Lion, also being the symbol of the Lion of Judah, makes Leo birthdays even sweetah! (No disrespect to the other signs, ya'll aight, too!) I’m female, young enough to party with the best of ‘em, but mature enough to know when to quit, single, not looking to come to Negril to act like “Stella” (after all, look at how it ended, they divorced and Winston turned out to be - well you know.....– ick), but I do like to get my “groove on” – in the form of dancing, that is. Although a likkle of that other “groovin’” every now and then is aight, too! Sorry, I digress – I have a practically grown daughter (my only child) who, BTW, wants to come with me to Negril in 2008. Somehow I’ve got to convince her that she really needs to “sit this one out” ‘cuz I just can’t “party” with my daughter the way I would if I were by myself. She don't need to see her mama doin' what she do – even though we have an ultra-cool relationship. Born and raised in the Midwest, I work in the pharmaceutical industry after freeing myself from the social services field (10 years was enough!) and have since discovered that working in the private (for profit) sector is waaaaaaay better than the public (not-for-profit) sector. An avid reader & researcher, I like to have fun, meet new people, travel, laugh, snorkel, dance, swim, drink good booze, laugh, look good, smell even better, have fun, eat good food, flirt, laugh, listen to good music, shop, hang out on the beach, have fun, laugh – well, you get the picture! I’ve traveled extensively in the U.S. and about 1 ½ years ago, decided that it’s time to “travel abroad.” So, I’m not a newbie to the Caribbean, but a newbie to Jamaica. I’ve done enough research to know that when I travel to Jamaica, I don’t want to stay in MoBay, Ocho Rios, Kingston or Treasure Beach – although I’m sure those places are lovely, they don’t strike me as having the “vibe” I’m looking for. I’ll definitely do a day trip or two to the places that make those destinations famous (or infamous), but I already know – Negril is where I will come “home” to. So, after all of that, hopefully dear reader, I’ve given you a likkle insight as to who I am, haven’t bored you to death or taken up too much of your time.
