Nigel Holness (left), managing director of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, presents the bank's sponsorship cheque to Karen Zacca, project coordinator at Sandal's foundation, to fund the participation of 20 underprivileged children in the Sandals Foundation Streak it Blue 5K Fun Run & After Party in Ocho Rios on Saturday. Looking on is Douglas Cupidon, head of corporate banking at the financial institution. The bank responded to an invitation from the Foundation to sponsor local children's participation in the event "enabling the Sandals Foundation to make a difference in the lives of sick children in Jamaica and across the Caribbean". Proceeds of Streak it Blue will go to the SickKids Caribbean Initiative (SCI), a not-for-profit collaboration between the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and various institutions across six Caribbean islands. Through partnerships in St Vincent, Barbados, The Bahamas, St Lucia, Trinidad, and Jamaica, the SCI works to provide the best possible management for paediatric cancer and to improve outcomes for children affected by cancers and serious blood disorders in the Caribbean.
