Jamaica Public Service (JPS) President Kelly Tomblin (centre) gets a crash course in sewing from Garmex Heart Academy Deputy manager, Apparel Technical Centre Rita Palmer, and Director Principal Arden Grant on Monday. JPS collaborated with the institution with its innovative BannaBags project, which sees the energy company converting its old vinyl advertising banners into schoolbags for students. Tomblin has earlier handed over a personal cheque to the institution for the production of the BannaBags. The company plans to produce 1,000 bags by the end of the year. The first beneficiaries of the BannaBags Project will be bright, young students in need of back-to-school supplies. Thereafter, other beneficiaries will include students at JPS Foundation Model Schools and children nominated by JPS employees. (PHOTO: ASTON SPAULDING)
