JAMAICA today marks the 26th anniversary of the passage of Hurricane Gilbert, which left a path of death and destruction as it moved across the island on Monday, September 12, 1988. Forty-five people were reported dead while there were billions of dollars in damage. Here, photographs — courtesy of the Jamaica Information Service — highlight some of the damage caused by the deadly hurricane.
