LEGAZPI, Philippines -- Residents clean their homes after strong waves from Typhoon Hagupit battered a coastal village in Legazpi, Albay province, eastern Philippines yesterday as residents begin trickling back to their homes after the local government said the typhoon had passed their province. Typhoon Hagupit knocked out power and sent nearly 900,000 into shelters before it weakened Sunday, sparing the central Philippines the type of massive devastation that a monster storm brought to the region last year.
