WHILE thousands of Jamaicans crowded the Waterfront, downtown Kingston on New Year's Eve, last Wednesday night, hundreds of others lined both sides of the entire Palisadoes Road from the Harbour View intersection to the roundabout, close to the Norman Manley International Airport, for a celebration of their own. Families and friends took their chairs, igloos packed with liquor, and food for the merrymaking, while others fished in the Caribbean Sea nearby. It took up to 90 minutes for most of the traffic to clear at the end of the excitement.
